My grandma passed away Monday, February 12th this year of Alzheimers. This weekend we put both her and my grandpa's urns into a niche at Park Lawn Cemetery. We had a very small service that was family only...not really a service, more of a gathering really. My brother and I carried the urns into the mausoleum - I had my grandpa's and he had my grandma's. There was already a ladder in place so my dad could put them into the niche. My dad had prepared a speech. It was a very nice speech.
My grandma did not want to be mourned, just remembered. She didn't want a big service or anything really expensive. In his speech my dad mentioned remembering them through a song or something that reminded us of them. I remember my grandma through movies. While I was growing up, she would look after me once in a while, and we had a couple movies that we would always watch, most of them musicals. I'm working on collecting these movies, so whenever I want to really remember her, all I have to do is put on a dvd.

Some movies:
Pete's dragon
Calamity Jane
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (my first Indiana Jones movie :))
Sound of Music
The King and I
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Brigadoon

She also used to tell me a lot of stories about when she was young. During the summer I'm going to start writing down all her stories. At the beginning I'm planning on having something like this and at the end, my dad's speech at the inurnment. I might post some of her stories here. All of the are going to printed and handed out to family. :)

January 11th, 2007

I've been watching CSI: NY lately and I've noticed some issues...
- there doesn't seem to ever me a detective or police officer with the CSIs when they go to someones house
- the CSIs do almost all their own lab analysis
- sometimes they will pick things up without gloves on!
- the coroner seems way too young to me (maybe I'm just used to Doc Robbins too much?)
- there doesn't seem to be guards nearby when they are questioning someone...so many incidents on the Las Vegas one prove those are necessary
- the main guy reminds me a lot of Horatio from Miami...though this is also amusing.

I don't mind the story lines. From what I have seen so far these are not bad, they're pretty entertaining, dark and twisty. So far I don't mind the characters too much. Right now the History channel (go figure) is playing them every weekday 7 and 10pm.

Oh, and if there is one thing CSI: NY has taught me this week, its that glucose is murder on pleather :P

Random other things:
In Turkey there is a "Batman River"
Fullhouse had an unaired pilot where Danny was not played by Bob Saget
Not every moment is awesome

A sweet reunion with a friend or a brother
In all the places you find love
It feels like Christmas
It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear
It is the season of the sprit
The message if we hear it
Is make it last all year
It's in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It's all the ways that we show love
That feel like Christmas
A part of childhood we'll always remember
It is the summer of the soul in December
Yes, when you do your best for love
It feels like Christmas
It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear
It is the season of the sprit
The message if we hear it
Is make it last all year
It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas

my review of Grudge 2

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
orlando
So I just got back from seeing the Grudge 2. It was scary like it was supposed to be, but unlike the first one it made no sense! Apparently there are 2 different stories going on, one in Chicago and one in Tokyo that you THINK are going on at the same time but they aren't. I think the Tokyo one happened first and the Chicago one came next.
If you saw the first movie, you know that if you go into the house where this curse is then you're pretty much screwed. The scary lady with the long black hair is going to find you where-ever you are and kill you. After that, you're done, you have disappeared. This one breaks a whole bunch of rules randomly. Towards the end of the movie you find out one of the people who you think was alive has been walking around dead for some time and can all of sudden appear dead when she wants to...or just when she can creep out one of the many main characters.
Also, in this one it seems that if you are cursed and travel to another city, like...I dunno Chicago, you bring the curse with you and it can transfer to the apartment next to you and make the people there do some weird stuff. It would appear that they are acting out what happened at the original house but the the wife kills the husband and I think drowns herself and the step-daughter.
I read some reviews to see if anyone at all can make any sense out of it...and they can't. But the best thing I read was this:

"There are also a three times as many main characters, whose individual tales are presented out of sequence with each other to the point where you're practically begging for that freaky boneless chick to show up and start snapping necks."

I wasn't really begging for the creepy "chick" to show up but it was very confusing.

Holy shit...my cousin was arrested today. Its not really a shock that she was arrested, that part has been a long time coming...what is shocking is that it was her parents that actually did something! She has to go on some program, and if she is caught stealing or with drugs she gets taken to court and has a record. I'm pretty impressed with my aunt and uncle right now, they've finally realized they need to do something other than deal out punishments that never stick.

Ok, let us get one thing straight - WE ARE NOT A 24-HOUR HELPLINE! Calling between 10am-10:30pm is fine before or after that is waking people up!
Oh and another thing, why do some girls always have to be the hostesses? Would it kill you to walk 10 minutes?

Ugh! This weekend sucks!

Next week begins last year at laurier (if all goes well :P)
Looking into stuff for next year - 3 options i think: museum studies, graduate archaeology program or work. I think I'm leaning towards museum studies. And for that it looks like my options are (yes, in this order) Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Certificate in Museum Studies, University of Toronto Museum Studies program, Fleming Museum Management and Curatorship program or George Brown College. George Brown seems to let anyone in but on the other hand its still close to everything but it shall be the last resort I think. It doesn't even have an internship program. The OMA doesn't really either but its got other good things going for it.
Work would be ok I guess if it involves a museum or digging in a field somewhere :P Still have more stuff to look into...and present school stuff to worry about as well.

Goodnight...

Last...what? four or five days I have been waking up during the night between 2:15 and 2:30am. I can't explain it. There isn't any noise that wakes me up or anything. No one else seems to know what it is. Though my roommate had an interesting thought. Shes seen that in a horror movie, guy keeps waking up at 3am and eventually goes crazy and tries to kill his family. Hopefully I don't get to that point :S creepy.

January 1st, 2006

Me and my family usually have a movie night on weekends. Tonight we watched episodes of Soap, started in 1977 and lasted for 4 seasons. So far its been pretty good though four hours of it is a little much. :S Its a good show in small doses. Bob and Chuck are great :)

Sick!

Dear god neferatowen! Your house was a bloody mess afterwards! The following
bastards barfed all over your carpet - fangorious, purediamond8865, tsquared22, twodoor, ghostbuster82, deanomac

Fights

purediamond8865 and neferatowen spent most of the night wrestling with each other over the Twister mat. Early reports seem to indicate that they were not...I repeat NOT fucking

Lovers

Whilst it may seem like their relationship is doomed to a one night stand, we sincerely hope that both twodoor and ghostbuster82 will see the light and become eternal snugglebunnys.

The Drunkest

Dear God fangorious! I cannot bear the smell! Your breathe is like a dank beer soaked cellar!

Random Events

fangorious was pissed by 06 PM and made an utter twat of themselves.

During a game of Twister purediamond8865 reached out and felt tsquared22's arse.
tsquared22 is now in rehab trying to recover from this trauma.
